Ingredients:

  • 1 can Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt (5.3 oz)
  • 2/3 cup Light Mayo (120g)
  • 1/3 cup Whole Milk (74g)
  • 2 tbsp Max’s Original Hot Sauce (or Chipotle variant for a smoky twist) (30g)
  • 1/2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (7g)
  • Juice from 1/2 a small lime
  • 1 clove Fresh Garlic, minced
  • 1 Ranch Seasoning Mix Packet (1 oz)
  • 1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum (optional, for thickening)

Recipe Steps:

  1. In a blender combine: Greek yogurt, light mayo, milk, Max’s Hot Sauce, olive oil, lime juice, garlic, and ranch seasoning in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the dressing is too thin, add xanthan gum to achieve the desired consistency.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning or hot sauce as needed.
  4. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.

 

Notes:

  1. Hot Sauce Variants: While the original Max's Hot Sauce is recommended for a classic zesty taste, consider the Chipotle variant for a smoky twist, offering flexibility based on your flavor preferences.

  2. Acidic Component Substitutes: Lemon juice or 1 tsp distilled white vinegar (5g), can replace lime juice, providing alternatives that maintain the dressing's tangy profile.

  3. Milk and Buttermilk Options: I use whole milk for it's easy accessibility, but buttermilk is an excellent alternative for a traditional ranch feel. Remember, if using buttermilk, omit lime juice to balance the flavors.

  4. Milk Varieties: Any milk type can be used, I use whole milk here, it up to your dietary preferences or available ingredients.

  5. Ranch Seasoning Measurements: If using a container of ranch seasoning, measure out 8 tsp (28g). This precise measurement ensures consistency in flavor.

  6. Garlic Options: Fresh garlic is preferred for its robust flavor, but garlic powder is a suitable substitute, just use 1/8 tsp, just be flexible based on what's available in your pantry.

  7. Yogurt and Sour Cream Substitutes: While non-fat Greek yogurt is used for a healthier twist, sour cream or full-fat plain yogurt are viable substitutes, allowing for customization based on taste or dietary restrictions.

  8. Mayo Variants: Regular mayo can be used instead of light mayo, accommodating different dietary preferences or desired calorie content.

  9. Thickening Agents: Xanthan gum is optional but recommended for a thicker consistency. Guar gum is an alternative, or you can omit it altogether for a lighter dressing.

  10. DIY Ranch Seasoning Blend: For those who prefer homemade or don't have ranch seasoning, a blend of 1 tsp salt (6g), 1 tsp onion powder (5g), 1 tsp dried chives (1g), 1/2 tsp dried parsley (0.5g), 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (1g), 1/4 tsp dried dill (1g), and a dash of crushed black pepper can recreate the ranch flavor.
